This is a significant change from the regular entrance exams for colleges. As per the latest update from the UGC Chairman, any university in India can opt for CUET 2023.
Several government universities, including Delhi University (DU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), will use CUET 2023 to evaluate candidates for their undergraduate programs. However, JEE and NEET will continue to be used for admissions to engineering and medical programs, respectively.

CUET 2023 Registration Date Extended
The National Testing Agency has extended the CUET UG 2023 registration deadline. The registration period for CUET UG 2023 was scheduled to end on March 12, 2023. According to the updated timetable, the CUET UG 2023 registration period will end on March 30, 2023.
UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar revealed the updated schedule in a tweet. More colleges have chosen to use CUET UG 2023 scores for UG admissions; hence it was decided to prolong the CUET UG 2023 registration period. A recent update indicates that 168 universities have chosen to use CUET 2023 scores for admissions, 44 of which are Central and 31 State Universities.

CUET UG 2023 in 3 shifts; over 11 lakh registrations so far
As per the sources, CUET 2023 will be conducted in three shifts this year.
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG will be conducted in three shifts this year instead of two, and plans for its merger with crucial entrance exams like JEE and NEET will be announced at least two years in advance, according to UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.
In an interview with PTI, Kumar said the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) are prepared to ensure that the second edition of CUET-UG is glitch-free. He said. “Extra computers and extra centres have been arranged as a plan B so that in case there are any glitches, the candidates can be shifted there, and the exam for a particular shift will not be cancelled,”

When asked about the proposal to merge CUET with the engineering entrance exam JEE and medical entrance exam NEET, Kumar said, Whenever the merger happens, the announcements will be made at least two years in advance so the students can prepare accordingly.”
With 14.9 lakh registrations, the CUET became the second highest-registration entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE-Main’s average enrollment of nine lakhs. “We have already received over 11.5 lakh registrations this year. The deadline has been extended till March 30, and we expect the applications to surpass last year’s,” Kumar said.

The examination for undergraduate programs will be conducted between May 21 to 31, 2023.
Aspirants will be able to correct the information in some specified fields only. The CUET UG 2023 Application Correction will start from 1st April 2023 to 3rd April 2023 via online mode. It is recommended that aspirants take advantage of this opportunity and modify the details carefully and correctly.
Aspirants can correct the details only in specific fields, such as personal and educational. Aspirants must edit the details within the given period. Aspirants must know if the application form has been submitted; no changes will be allowed later. However, the correction window will be opened separately. The candidates will not have to pay additional fees to edit the CUET 2023 application form.

CUET 2023: Eligibility for an Undergraduate Program
Along with the admission notification, NTA has released the eligibility criteria for CUET 2023. So let us look at the eligibility requirements for CUET 2023.
- Aspirants should score at least 50% marks in their 10+2 examination in the General category and 45% for SC/ST candidates.
- Aspirants should have taken subjects in 10+2 depending on their chosen course.
- The aspirants should be of Indian nationality.
- It is recommended that aspirants apply to three participating universities with three options for CUET programs.
- CUET can be applied for while attempting the university’s qualifying examination. However, they would have to produce a passing certificate during counselling.
CUET 2023: Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply for CUET 2023. However, aspirants must fulfil the educational qualifications to be eligible for the CUET 2023 exam.
CUET 2023 Nationality
There are a few requirements that candidates must meet to qualify for the CUET 2023 exam:
- The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
- A constituent subject of Nepal, Bhutan
- A Tibetan refugee who landed in India before 1 January 1962 to make India their home and reside there permanently.
- Pakistanis, Burmese, Sri Lankans, Kenyans, Ugandans, Tanzanians, Zambians, Malawians, Zaireans, Ethiopians, and people from Vietnam who permanently moved to India.

CUET 2023: Number of Attempts
The aspirants can appear for the exam if they fulfil the educational requirements, nationality, and other CUET 2023 requirements. There is no set number of times to attempt CUET. Thus, aspirants must adhere to the eligibility requirements to attempt CUET.

Ans: Through the CUET 2023 scores, candidates can be admitted to participating universities such as DU, JNU, AMU, etc.
Ans: CUET UG 2023 admit card will be released in the second week of May, around a week before the exam. The admit card of CUET will be released separately for each phase of the exam. Candidates must download the admit cards online by logging in with their registration credentials.
Ans. Yes. There is a negative marking in the CUET exam. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. Negative marking will not be applicable in case of unattempted questions.
