All you need to know about JEE Advanced exam

The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced is an academic examination held annually in India. Conducting authority of JEE Advanced are IIT Bombay and JAB (Joint Admission Board).

  • Full exam name: Joint Entrance Examination Advanced, i.e. (JEE advanced).
  • Duration of examination: 3 hours for each paper, i.e. 6 total hours in a day
  • Qualification rate: 29.1% of the total appeared candidates
  • Purpose of this examination: Admission to the undergraduate Engineering, Science and Architecture courses in 23 IITs
  • Attempts : 2 attempts are allowed in a consecutive year.
  • Languages in which examination is taken: Hindi, English

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced are decided by IIT Bombay. JEE Advanced 2022 is conducted by IIT Bombay and JAB (Joint Admission Board).

Qualification Criteria

  • JEE Advanced aspirants get relaxation in marks 2022, now there is no mandatory to score 75% in CLass 12th has been removed.
  • The students appearing for the JEE Advance exam must have cleared the 12th standard examination.
  • The student should be from the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main 2022.

Age Criteria

Aspirant should have born after or on 1 October, 1997.

5 years relaxation is given to ST, SC and PwD candidates.

For SC, ST and PwD aspirants born year should be after or on 1 October, 1992.

JEE Advanced 2022: Atempts

In 2 consecutive year JEE Advanced Aspirant can attempt JEE Advanced maximum 2 times.

Criteria before JEE Advanced 2022

Before coronavirus JEE Advanced criteria are different than JEE Advanced 2022 criteria.

Mandatory 75% in class 12th examination.

Aspirant should belong from the first 20 percentile of passed candidates in Class 12th.

According to top 20% criteria five subjects are the major for calculating the percentile. The five subjects are;

  1. Physics

  3. Chemistry
  4. Language Subject
  5. Any subject in which aspirant score good marks.

Minimum marks to qualify in JEE mains

To qualify for the JEE Main exam, the student should have secured above or equal the passing marks. The passing marks for the general category are a minimum of 75% and above. For the candidates belonging to SC/ ST category is 65%.

How much score is required to clear the JEE Advanced?

The pattern for the JEE Advance exam remains constant, and no question has ever been repeated in this exam. The question paper for the JEE Advanced exam will be divided into three sections, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

How many questions come in JEE Advanced exam?

The JEE Advanced will consist of two papers, i.e. paper-1 and paper-2. With 54 questions in each paper, the total marks of JEE Advanced Paper- 1 and Paper 2 are 188 each. So the total marks for the JEE Advanced for both papers are 366.
